Covid-19: Ronald McDonald House in Romania gives respite to local doctors and nurses

18 May 2020 - All around the world, Ronald McDonald House(R) programs provide accommodation, food and comfort to families of hospitalized children. In Romania, when the Covid-19 pandemic arrived and families were no longer staying at the House, the local chapter wanted to do something for the doctors and nurses of their partner hospitals. These heroes are fighting day and night to keep everyone safe and healthy, so they wanted to help them in return.

With the support of their local McDonald's restaurants, Ronald McDonald House(R) opened its doors and kitchens to everyone on the front line, so they have a place to rest and eat, any time they need. "As our local McDonald's says, united we do good, and together we really are stronger,” explained Andreea Ciobanu, Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Charities Romania.

Andreea Ciobanu, Executive Director RMHC Romania, tells the story of how Ronald McDonald House programs are serving as a rest spot for doctors and nurses.

Several local chapters of the Ronald McDonald’ House Charities around the world have shifted their programs to support local healthcare workers during the pandemic in a similar way. Ronald McDonald House Charities and its local chapters are committed to working collaboratively with local and national children’s health care partners to advance family-centered care and support services worldwide.
